About The Wandering Jewels
Before I was born my parents decided that if I were to be a girl my name would be "Julia". My mother told my father she wanted to spell it "Jewelya". I can tell you first off that my father stopped that idea in its tracks. In my teenage years I started to embrace "Jewelya". I will never forget sitting with my cousin summer 2012 when he looked at me and said "You are so exotic. I mean that in the best way. You are beautiful but it's a different beauty so its exotic."

That has stuck with me since.
The Wandering Jewels brand was born; however,
it is also me, Jewelya, my story.

Who Is Jewelya?
I am a WOMAN, ski instructor, photographer, cannabis educator and enthusiast, and
jewelry maker.
I am passionate and compassionate, driven, caring, exotic, goofy, etc.
​
When I was in middle school I got my first little digital camera. Anyone that knew me at this time knew I would go everywhere with my little Sony cybershot. After working and saving money, I got my first DSLR. This camera allowed me to experiment and explore photography further. I spent most of my time embracing the nature around me. To this day landscapes and the details in nature are some of my favorite things to capture. My Canon DSLR along with my three original Polaroid cameras was the beginning of a healthy addiction

Self portraits became a big part of my learning as I did not have people to take portraits of. Self portraits have become a way for me to express myself and release pent up energy.
My youngest sister was my first model. We took countless photos together messing around with light, shadows, and makeup. I am completely self taught. Over the many years I've been involved with photography I've had countless people give me tips and educate me that I am beyond grateful for. In 2018, I started attending group shoots where I did photo work and modeled with many other talented photographer in New England. This led to me doing more portraiture and creative concepts. Flash forward to summer 2023, I added a couple new to me toys to my camera family: Kodak Retina Reflex III and a Canon EOS 630.
Summer 2023 I started my journey of 35mm film and I am never going back!

The Wandering Jewels is for all of us souls wandering this earth being the best individuals we can be. This world allows each of us to shine uniquely. I see peoples energies and capture that in photos from portraits, to family photos, to weddings, to product photos for your business, to group shoots.
This brand is so much more than photography!
Jewelry is a passion of mine that adds a different sparkle. Other than having a name that just makes sense....
When I was a young kid we would sit around with my mom and string beads into bracelets. It was at the time just an activity to keep us busy. As the years past I realized how much I love making jewelry. Semi-precious stones carry energies. These stones coincide with the chakras and other elements. For this reason I make my jewelry with the energies the stones carry in mind.
